The End of Episode 3.
The goal is to both promote, and present various ways and methods of dealing with everyday life as a Bachelor. - "Bachelor Logic" That special brand of logic that spawns from a young adult male when left to his own. Usually centered around various "fixits and customs" around the house. "I've only got some kinda ground meat in the fridge... I've got bread... Meat on bread ! That's a hamburger !" That's bachelor logic ☺

Everything is Connected and works great, but ...
Now comes the "Tweaking"
You've got everything. All the components you
want. BlueRay DVD Player. Game console, Satellite DVR,
TIVO.... You have all the cables for each and every connection.
You know that HDMI components only need to be connected via just (1) HDMI
cable. (Oh yes, there are some people who will hook the components up
each available way possible. Likewise, there are some sales people, who
will sell you each and every cable, for each and every possible hook up.
When you really don't need them. I like to call these salespeople
"Bastards").
But the TV still doesn't look as
"Vibrant" as it did at the store. It doesn't "POP
OUT" at you like the display did. That's because the TV on Display
was adjusted to be brighter, and the color turned up to appear more
"colorful." Not to mention, you most likely don't have the same
lighting that was overhead in the store. You have three options here.
- You can take the TV back, and somehow feel disappointed with your purchase.
- You can get a "Calibration Disc" and calibrate the colors on your TV, and DVD player.
- You can hire a Professional to do the "Calibration" for you.
Not your neighbor, the kid from the store where you
bought the TV, or even the "Computer Whiz" down the street. But
an honest to goodness "Calibration Professional."
If you have a computer with Internet access, and
your comfortable with it. You can download and burn a Calibration Disc,
and try it yourself. One such disc, is the AVS Calibration Disc, the
disc, also has video tips to help you along the calibration process from HD
Nation. And you can find the links to it on such websites as
AVSForum.com, HiFiVision.com, HiDefJunkies.com.
The current disc is the AV HD 709 Disc.

When you look for a professional to do this for
you, these are also great website to find them. One such thread is right
here -
Hookin UP, Continued
OK - So by now you know that an HDMI, can carry both Audio ( Sound ) and
Video ( Picture ).
So if all of your components have an HDMI plug. And there are three types,
Then you can hook them up, component to component via HDMI cables.
The only problem is when you have more components, then you actually have
inputs for, on your Home Theater AVReceiver. For example: lets say you
have a Yamaha DSP-A1 (Awesome). BUT - The DSP-A1, does not support HDMI.
You can also fix that now, thanks to DVDO.
One such component, "The DVDO Edge."
They also make the NEW “4K” compatible - "DVDO Quick 6"
These are just two
devices that allow you to connect all of your components into them, as the
MASTER or "Switch Box" and then hook to your receiver, and another
separate connection to your new BIG SCREEN HiDef TV.
Bringin' the BIG SCREEN HOME !
SO, you bought a BIG SCREEN... But the picture just ain't there yet.
You might be wondering, "how do I hook everything together?" There are a whole lot of options at this point. First - The basics.A Common Hookup Diagram
And we'll start with what is current and most common, otherwise known as:
What you need to know.
HDMI ( High-Definition Multimedia Interface ) For digital audio, if an HDMI
device supports audio, it is required to support the baseline format: stereo
(uncompressed) PCM. Other formats are optional, with HDMI allowing up to 8
channels of uncompressed audio at sample sizes of 16-bit, 20-bit and 24-bit,
with sample rates of 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz,
96 kHz, 176.4 kHz and 192 kHz.
HDMI also supports
any IEC 61937-compliant compressed audio stream, such as Dolby
Digital and DTS, and up to 8 channels of
one-bit DSD audio (used on Super Audio CDs)
at rates up to four times that of Super Audio CD. With version 1.3,
HDMI supports lossless compressed audio streams Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD
Master Audio. As with the YCbCr video, device support for
audio is optional.
Audio Return Channel (ARC) is a feature introduced in the HDMI 1.4
standard.
"Return" refers to the case where the audio comes from the TV
and can be sent "upstream" to the AV receiver using the HDMI cable
connected to the AV receiver. An example given on the HDMI website
is that a TV that directly receives a terrestrial/satellite broadcast, or has a
video source built in, sends the audio "upstream" to the AV receiver.
